The business: Peter Kerr has been running his mobile tyre replacement business for six years, and communicates with his customers via Twitter, where he has built up a following of more than 5,500 followers. He is a winner of the #SBS campaign run by former Dragon’s Den star Theo Paphitis, who chooses six people a week who tweet him about their business and re-tweets their message to his 400,000 followers.

What Peter says: “When I started in this business, there weren’t many competitors, but there are more now. I’ve built up a loyal customer base, which is a big help – I use Facebook, and Twitter (@tyres2u) has brought me in quite a bit of business.”
His advice to other businesses: “If you don’t have a website, you’re missing a trick. People search for businesses, and if you’re not there, they won’t find you. I also get a lot of work from people recommending me on Twitter – that’s working massively for me.”
